UNSW academic appointed to Independent Expert Scientific Committee
Congratulations to Dr Wendy Timms, who was recently appointed to the Independent Expert Scientific Committee on Coal Seam Gas and Large Coal Mining Development.
Wendy was invited to join a panel of eight experts that provides scientific advice to decision makers on the impact that these resource development projects may have on Australia's water resources.
Wendy’s focus is on potential hydrogeology impacts of these proposed projects, in the broad context of natural resource management.
The IESC aims to improve the collective scientific understanding of the water-related impacts of coal seam gas and large coal mining developments through an independent and transparent process that builds confidence in the science used in decision making.
The role also provides advice to the Australian government on research priorities.
